SYSTEM DESCRIPTION
This System is a satellite based digital telephony and data communications network providing mesh connectivity between multiple earth stations. This system use the TES (Telephony Earth Station) from Hughes Network System Inc.

The system provides call-by-call Demand Assignment Multiple Access (DAMA) operation for Voice circuits, and pre-assigned operation for Data circuits, via single hop Single Channel Per Carrier (SCPC) communications paths between earth stations.

The System supports telephony, synchronous and asynchronous data communications directly between remote terminals anywhere in the system. Each remote terminal can be in simultaneous communication with several other.

The NCS (Network Control System) manages and controls the network and performs the satellite DAMA functions. Central processing and database facilities in conjunction with operator consoles and remote monitor and control facilities handle these functions.

The Voice circuits between Remote terminals are established on demand, as dictated by the user dialing sequence, under the control of the centralized DAMA processing equipment of the NCS (Network Control System) and the satellite channels are allocated only for the duration of these connections.

The Data communications utilize predefined satellite channels, and provide point to point, permanently assigned, continuous connection between remote terminals.

Satellite channels can also be divide into bandwidth Pools and configured in the system to provide differing access probabilities for remote terminal voice circuits.
